MSM
James Coburn, actor and star of many films (including ‘The Magnificent Seven’), suffered so badly in the early 80s with arthritis that he was forced to give up acting and became housebound. He said the pain was so great that it made him sweat just to stand up. Then he was introduced to MSM and it changed his life and health. In taking MSM daily his condition improved so much that he was able to return to acting (in non strenuous roles) for a further 20 years. As a keen ambassador for MSM he spoke about it many times on TV and at conventions. (As shown on BSkyB Biography channel) MSM has shown significant proven results in the treatment of arthritis, allergies, burns, constipation, anxiety, stress, and memory loss. It is an organic mineral that has also been shown to dramatically slow down the growth rate of certain cancers Can’t believe it? MSM has over 34 years of clinical trials to prove it. With research from Universities and clinical research involving over 12000 patients. Research or clinical experience so far suggests that MSM may be an appropriate food supplement for people suffering the following complaints: - Acne Allergies Arthritis Asthma Breast cancer Brittle nails Burns Cramps Constipation Detoxification Diabetes Digestion Emphysema Energy Eyes Heartburn Lung cancer Lung disease Lupus Memory Mental normalcy Oral Hygiene Pain Parasites Inflammation Insect bites Scar tissue Skin and hair Snoring Sore muscles Stress Sunburn MSM is available through Omega Therapies Please contact for your supply Orders are also available by post |

MSM is Natural MSM stands for Methyl Sulphonyl Methane. It is a naturally occurring nutrient, an organic sulphur compound that is found in the normal human diet and in the diet of virtually all other animals. Sulphur is present in all living organisms. It actually belongs in the same chemical family that includes oxygen. Organisms that live in environments where there is no oxygen, such as some bacteria, often replace oxygen with sulphur as their source of energy. Without sulphur, life as we know it would not exist. Some of the essential functions that sulphur gives us include: Maintaining the structure of the body’s proteins Helping the formation of keratin essential for hair and nails Aiding production of immunoglobulins for the immune system Triggering reactions which change food into energy Neutralising or eliminating toxins from the body. MSM lessens inflammation, reduces pain, improves blood supply and lowers muscle spasm in inflammation or in any painful condition, such as tennis elbow or carpal tunnel syndrome. How safe is MSM? Dr Stanley Jacob has found that MSM is one of the least toxic substances in biology and medicine. MSM is similar in toxicity to clean water. Common table salt is more toxic than MSM To be sure that MSM is safe Dr Jacob has taken MSM for 20 years without any side effects. Prior to taking MSM he used to have a cold or flu two or three times a year. He has not had a single cold or flu in the 20 years he has been taking MSM Any Side effects? MSM is very safe and has no side effects. Furthermore it has a detoxifying effect on the body as a whole. In the first few days and weeks of taking MSM the body is going to undertake quite a lot of spring-cleaning and rebuilding. In the course of this you may experience a few healing symptoms. Some experience an itchy skin for instance which is then replaced by a younger smoother skin. You may feel twinges from old injuries in joints and muscles as they undergo repair Eyes may temporarily seem a little more blurred Any symptoms such as these are probably indicators that MSM is working Where is MSM found? The cycle is started in the ocean in microscopic plants called plankton. These release sulphur compounds into the ocean water which are then released up into the atmosphere. Here they are converted into atmospheric sulphur that falls back to earth in the rain. Plants take up MSM very rapidly into their root systems and concentrate it one hundred fold. MSM is incorporated into the plant’s structure and normally we humans can then absorb it from the fruit and vegetables that we consume. Eventually MSM finds its way back to the sea and the sulphur cycle starts again. Today, however, we are processing too many foods, which reduces the MSM content, and we may be getting less MSM into our bodies than we require. MSM levels do diminish in our bodies with advancing age. Dr Stanley Jacob, having studied 12000 people, believes that almost everyone is deficient, but with age the deficiency grows more pronounced. MSM has been used for years by vets, treating horses and animals for pain. MSM cream can be used for burns and skin problems as well as taking it orally. Pain and Arthritis research People have found relief from pain due to arthritis. Father Sam Bungo of Pennsylvania suffered from bursitis and arthritic symptoms in his knees and shoulder. “A lot of the time I would get up in the morning and have to go downstairs very slowly, one step at a time”. After one year of taking MSM he says, “ Now I have no trouble with my knees”. Sulphur concentration in arthritic cartilage has been shown to be about one-third the level found in normal cartilage. Dr Stanley Jacob studied the development of joint problems similar to those seen in rheumatoid arthritis. He found that animals that were given MSM in their drinking water suffered no degeneration of articular cartilage, while 50% given plain tap water to drink developed major degeneration of the cartilage, similar to the condition ‘rheumatoid arthritis’ in man. Taking MSM by skin and by mouth tends to improve tennis elbow, carpal funnel syndrome and bursitis etc., MSM lessens inflammation, reduces pain, improves blood supply and lowers muscle spasm in inflammation or in any painful condition, such as tennis elbow or carpal tunnel syndrome i.e.: in the wrist. Carpal tunnel syndrome is becoming more prominent as everyone is using computers and are repeatedly injuring the median nerve in the wrist. Muscle pain and weakness Polymyalgia rheumatic and fibromyalgia – diseases characterised by muscle weakness and pain. A 72 year old was given prednisone, a hormone to treat her Polymyalgia rheumatic and fibromyalgia but it made her health worse. She contacted Dr Jacob and he put her on MSM “I was pretty close to being an invalid” she says “Now I am doing my own washing, ironing, baking and cooking. MSM is a pretty marvellous thing”. |

Help for Arteries Evidence shows that MSM may help prevent the narrowing of the arteries that causes heart attack and stroke, two major causes of death. Dr Jacob’s team gave 20 rabbits a high cholesterol diet and added MSM to the diet of 10 of them. In all the rabbits, serum cholesterol levels went up very high, but the animals given MSM did not develop any fat in the arteries. They now plan to follow this up with a human study.
Slowing Cancer MSM seems to be slowing down breast and colon cancer. Trials have shown that animals given MSM developed cancer equivalent to a human 10year life cycle – i.e., it would take 10 additional years before cancer develops. Studies of Colon cancer gave similar results. The team also observed that the tumours shrank with MSM although they did not disappear. Since there are many inflammations of the colon in man such as ulcerative colitis, where the incidence of development of cancer is quite high, Dr Jacob believes that these patients should be given MSM orally as a preventative. Clearing Parasites MSM has anti-parasitic properties. Two parasites have so far been studied. The most common parasite in the gastro-intestinal tract is called Giardia. It causes poor absorption of nutrition in humans and is the most frequent cause of water-carried diarrhoea. MSM is quit effective when given orally in controlling symptoms and fighting the organism. Many women complain of yeast infections that are caused by a parasite called Trichomonas. The symptoms include itching and increased discharge, which may be malodorous and discoloured. Both topical and oral MSM have been found affective in treating this problem.
Anxiety, Stress and Short Term Memory. MSM appears to influence mood and brain function too.
Dr Jacob says “ In just about every disease there is an increased level of stress and anxiety, and this of course takes all disease more serious and diminishes the chance of any mediation or any treatment regime reducing the problems with that particular disease. We have found that MSM itself taken orally helps reduce stress. Interestingly, if you add a little bit of Vitamin E (400 units per day) to the MSM you get even more reduction of stress, but MSM itself does not reduce stress. There is some reduction of depression too”. Dr Jacob has been doing trials on dementia – the loss of short-term memory, and has seen some improvement. On the other end of the scale students on MSM have reported an increased ability to concentrate and greater calmness
Hair Skin and Nails
Between early and late adulthood the growth of finger and toe nails decreases by 30-50% and nails also become thick and brittle as we age. MSM increases the growth rate and combats the brittleness of nails. MSM also increase the rate of hair growth and tends to give it a more normal feeling.
MSM actually softens skin, acting as a moisturiser. It protects against drying of the skin caused by harsh water.
MSM for LUNGS
MSM is showing itself as an important food supplement for those with lung difficulties Studies show that MSM helps with asthma and chronic obstructive lung disease. Patients with emphysema were given MSM. After just 4 weeks they had at least doubled the distance they were able to walk. The fluid on their lungs also disappeared
Diabetes
A common condition brought on in part by poor metabolism resulting in excess blood sugar and lack of insulin, or a cell resistance to insulin. Studies suggest that taking MSM regularly (a minimum of 2 grams a day) causes the cells to become more permeable, improving pancreatic function (where insulin is produced). Diabetics are advised to let their doctor know if they are taking MSM as their need for insulin may be reduced.
EYES Reports suggest that MSM may help reduce or prevent cataracts by improving the permeability of the membranes in the eyes MSM has also been noted to improve blurred vision, bloodshot eyes, red spots and floaters.
