Cranio Sacral Therapy

CRANIO SACRAL THERAPY is rapidly gaining recognition as one of the most gentle and yet powerful forms of holistic healing.  It is used to detect and correct imbalances in the craniosacral system, which may be the cause of sensory, motor or intellectual dysfunction.

The craniosacral system consists of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.  It extends from the bones of the skull, face and mouth – which make up the cranium – down to the sacrum or tailbone area.

Cranio Sacral Therapy treats people rather than conditions.  It is primarily concerned with creating a healthy balanced state on all levels – physical, mental and emotional

The therapy has been successfully used to treat headaches, neck and back pain, TMJ, chronic fatigue, motor coordination difficulties, eye problems and central nervous system disorders and much more...

How does it work?

The client lies on a treatment table fully clothed and the Therapist makes gentle contact by placing the hands lightly on the body, as well as the head and spine.

Craniosacral therapy is safe, simple, yet very powerful and effective.  Small movements are made to the head and body to enable the body to realign by itself without trauma to the bones, tissues and ligaments. In the process it eliminates symptoms, diseases, dysfunctions and their root causes.

Relaxing and calming to the body (some even feel sleepy during treatment)

Provides relief from aches and pains and traumas to the body from car accidents, falls etc.,

Emotional trauma to the body creates blockages. CST is able to help with unblocking and clearing blocked energy.

NOT JUST FOR BABIES

There has been a great deal of publicity recently about the value of Cranio Sacral Therapy for babies and children.  Their systems respond very effectively to this form of therapy and it is extremely valuable in the problems to do with suckling, hearing etc., and problems related to birth process.

Babies and children can receive dysfunctions from forceps or suction delivery.  CST helps to realign bones and tissues after a traumatic delivery.

Mums also benefit from treatment during pregnancy i.e.: - allows opening of pelvic area.

Relaxing and calming who for some are stressful times - treatment after birth helps the pelvis to be re- aligned, muscle, tissue and nervous systems are soothed and assisted for a quicker recovery.

CRANIO SACRAL THERAPY is rapidly gaining recognition as one of the most gentle and yet powerful forms of holistic healing

It is a relatively new therapy, having been developed from one of those rare quantum leaps of inspiration by its founder, Dr. William Sutherland an American osteopath.

Going completely against the established teaching of his time, in the 1920’s he recognized a subtle motion within the intricate bony structure of the skull.  He called this motion “primary respiration” believing it to be of  far more importance to our well - being rather than mere breathing

During the next 80 years more and more people were drawn to investigate this revolutionary therapy and it was only taught to Osteopaths during this period.

Dr. John Upledger (surgeon, osteopath and physician) was one of the pioneers in this field developing Cranio Sacral Therapy and has refined the techniques to its present format that now also encompasses Emotional/ Trauma release with Somoto Emotional Release. (Trials done with Vietnam veterans)

Upledger found that treatment could be used to treat defects/malfunctions involving the brain and spinal cord, plus numerous other health problems

Fortunately, with Upledger’s pioneering work over the last 25 years it has now been made more available to a wider cross section to include Therapists.  More and more people have come to realize that here is a very powerful way of bringing the body back into balance and harmony.

At the very core of the body lies the brain and spinal cord, within a bony protection and bathed in a special fluid the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).  As the subtle movements of the primary breath take place the CSF travels along the core of the body drawn upward during ‘inspiration’ and flowing downwards at ‘expiration’.

This movement of fluid is like the movement of the oceans and has been called ‘the tide’. The subtle movement within the core of the body is taken up and expressed throughout the tissues and organs so that in an ideal body there would be a synchronised and harmonious rhythm within all the body parts.

Because our systems meet physical, emotional stress and challenge by contracting within that challenge they disturb and disrupt the flow of the tide.  It is as if the tide is flowing into a rocky shore; when it meets an obstacle, it has to find a way around.

Where the body is fully resourced the blockage is a temporary disruption.  However if the stresses are too frequent or if the shock too great, the blockage becomes gradually established and can eventually over time lead to discomfort, pain and disease

During our lifetime we will collect and disperse many different blockages; sometimes we are able to use the body’s natural processes to unblock and sometimes we need help.

The light touch of a trained Cranio Sacral Therapist is able to detect blockage and restricted flow of the fluids, reflect this information back to the body helping to gather the necessary resources to re-establish harmony.

CRANIO SACRAL THERAPY is used to detect and correct imbalances in the craniosacral system, which may be the cause of sensory, motor or intellectual dysfunction.

The craniosacral system consists of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.  It extends from the bones of the skull, face and mouth – which make up the cranium – down to the sacrum or tailbone area.

The therapy has been successfully used to treat headaches, neck and back pain, TMJ, chronic fatigue, motor coordination difficulties, eye problems and central nervous system disorders.

Osteopathic physician John Upledger developed Cranio Sacral therapy and has taught the technique internationally.  The therapy has been scientifically proved.

When we have a fall or an accident, the impact upon the body does not just affect the part hurt i.e.: - shoulder.  It is like throwing a pebble in a pond: The impact radiates throughout the body, it can go up, down or sideways.  When this happens it affects tissue and creates blockages to the flow of energy.   This can show up as a disorder later i.e.: - headaches, neck pain or other disorder.

Cranio Sacral Therapy treats people rather than conditions.  It is primarily concerned with creating a healthy balanced state on all levels – physical, mental and emotional.

One or a combination of techniques may support people with almost any condition. They are aimed at removing or reducing limitation to our innate self-healing process and aid the search for the root causes of a person’s ill health, causes that may have hidden for years.

How does it work?

Craniosacral therapy is safe, simple, yet very powerful and effective.  Small movements are made to the head and body to enable the body to realign by itself without trauma to the bones, tissues and ligaments. In the process it eliminates symptoms, diseases, dysfunctions and their root causes.

Relaxing and calming to the body (some even feel sleepy during treatment)

Provides relief from aches and pains and traumas to the body from car accidents, falls etc.,

Emotional trauma to the body creates blockages. CST is able to help with unblocking and clearing blocked energy.

Babies and children can receive dysfunctions from forceps or suction delivery.  CST helps to realign bones and tissues after a traumatic delivery. Also helpful for Mums during pregnancy and after birth.

May be particularly helpful with:

  • Chronic Pain
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Restricted movement
  • Headaches and Migraine
  • Repetitive Strain injury
  • Boosting recovery from injury
  • Promoting general health and fitness
  • Sciatica/disc problems
  • Reduced vitality
  • Discomfort during pregnancy
  • Recovery from injury and surgery
  • Jaw and mouth disorders- (grinding teeth)
  • Sports injuries
  • Whiplash
  • Evaluation of Newborns and children  – traumatic birth,
  • Dyslexia / Dysfraxia
  • attention Deficit Disorder and other learning difficulties

What is becoming more widely accepted is the value of this therapy to all adults and children alike.

A wide variety of conditions have been found to respond to craniosacral treatment:

  • Back and skeletal problems
  • TMJ (jaw problems) from dentistry, stress, grinding teeth
  • Sports injuries
  • Exhaustion
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Insomnia
  • Learning difficulties as well as Dyslexia/ Dysfraxia
  • Falls or accidents – whiplash
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Post Traumatic Stress

The client lies on a treatment table fully clothed and the Therapist makes gentle contact by placing the hands lightly on the body, as well as the head and spine.

The process is a partnership in which the therapist assists the body to find its own vitality and healing resource.  It is deeply relaxing

There may be a feeling of tingling, shaking or of heat/cold as structures, muscles, and diaphragms and tissues release.  Sometimes there may be an emotional response as memories of past trauma, sadness and happiness, or of times past are released.  This is a valuable signpost that the body is healing.

Afterwards a client may feel tired, elated, energetic, and loose limbed (feels/stands taller) or slightly achy but any side effects are short lived.

As the partnership builds over a course of treatments the response will be more rapid as the body regains its innate healing abilities.  It is possible for some problems to be resolved with one or two sessions while others may take longer if it is a chronic condition

Diet & Nutrition

Diet has a huge impact on how our bodies perform and our well being.

It is influenced by parasites, toxins, allergies, pH imbalances, overweight, mineral and vitamin deficiencies.

We can help with Natural cleansing, Detoxing, pH balancing, weight loss, removing parasites and candida from the body. Hair tissue analyis to show imblanances and toxcity levels together with depletions in vitamins and minerals.   See below for more information...

Enzymes and vitamins are responsible for converting food into energy.
They also stimulate the metabolic process and accelerate biological functions
Poor diet, stress and lifestyle deplete nutrition and energy in the body
Disease affects the amount of nutrition taken into our body
A run down state of the body is the cause of the problem and disease is the effect
We are what we eat!

Deficiencies can occur for many reasons.
Poor diet will deplete us in nutrients and vitamins – eating food that is not right for us can make us physically ill, giving a feeling of low energy and under par.

PH Balancing – your health is in the balance

Society is plagued with a torrent of health concerns. Many nutritionists believe that the explanation is due to ACID & ALKALI. An imbalance in the body’s pH can affect all major body systems, especially the: - digestive, intestinal, circulatory, respiratory and immune systems.

We need a proper pH-balanced environment to maintain proper metabolic function that allows the body to function optimally. Even though the body has built in protective systems it can become unbalanced through poor diet, stress, dehydration, chemicals and lack of exercise.

If your garden pond was murky and full of sludge and slime due to the pH being out of balance, you would be advised to put nutrients in to make the pH right and have clear water once again. This is what is needed for the body.

Rebalancing pH needs to be done with diet and minerals.  Check your levels of acid/alkaline by simply testing urine or saliva with special pH strips.

Further information on cassette tape, and pH testing strips available from Omega Therapies

Hair tissue mineral Analysis – testing and reports available from Omega Centre. For more information see 'Hair analysis' section.

Losing Weight, Detox and 'After Atkins'

Losing weight

It isn’t just about looking good .. It is about feeling good too.

Obesity is a worldwide problem, affecting people of all ages -adults as well as children. Some recent reports suggest that it will become a bigger health risk than cigarette smoking.  One in five are clinically obese and in the UK almost two thirds of men and over half of all women are overweight.  Obesity could reduce your life span by up to 10 years

Losing weight can improve your digestion of fats and lower your risk of painful gallstones, burning fat rather than storing it.

This lowers the risk of Diabetes, decreases the burden on the heart, lowers cholesterol, reduces arterial plaque and decreases the risk of a heart attack.   This Improves circulation and minimizes the risk of stroke, haemorrhaging and fatigue.

Gaining weight can be due to an underlying clinical disorder such as “digestive disorder” or “water retention”.   It can also be due to depleted or under active Thyroid caused by stress.

Some people can have success in managing their weight while others find it difficult.  With clinical deduction and diet advice together with a range of products, certain vitamins and minerals can help to curb the sweet tooth, maintain ideal healthy weight and establish a better lean muscle/ fat balance.

A range of products and vitamins & minerals to aid weight loss, together with advice and support, is available from Omega Centre.

Natural Cleanse – Chinese herbs can help by cleansing the system with special natural ingredients designed to eliminate parasites from the body

They contain herbs and nutrients that destroy and expel parasites, shrink inflamed tissues, absorb toxins from the bowel and improve the digestion of nutrients

**Information on Detox also available

  We are what we eat!

Deficiencies can occur for many reasons. A run down state of the body is the cause of the problem and disease is the effect

Poor diet will deplete us in nutrients and vitamins – eating food that is not right for us can make us feel physically ill, giving a feeling of low energy and under par.  Major causes of death in this country are often as a result of poor dietary habits and lifestyle.  Many illnesses can be prevented with an adequate intake of dietary nutrition, vitamin and mineral supplements, water and regular exercise.

Foods lack nutrition The earth in which we grow food has been depleted of minerals for over 50 years. Because of the way we produce food with modern day farming methods, storage and transport there is an adverse effect of the nutritional content of our food

Harvesting too soon can prevent enzymes forming correctly and produce stored too long will deplete in nutrients and vitamins. Some food in the supermarket may have been in cold storage, for up to 6-9 months.

Pesticides- A cocktail effect of various pesticides being consumed causes great concerns to many scientists who believe the accumulation of toxic chemicals can be detrimental to health.

Nutritional value varies - Random sampling tests have shown inconsistency in nutrition levels.

Tests on carrots showed a variation from 1850mg of Vitamin A, down to only 75mg.

Oranges varied from 70mg of Vitamin C.down to only a trace.

Allergies can be caused by sensitivity to foods, pollen, dust, animal hair, common drugs, additives and chemicals. Many vitamins and herbs can help to alleviate allergic conditions.

Poor Digestion “You are what you eat, digest and assimilate”

If you are not digesting and assimilating your foods effectively you can be nutritionally deficient. i.e: - Vit. E deficient causes poor digestion of fat, poor ability to assimilate nutrition together with pancreatic, gallbladder and liver disorders. Most people are aware there has been an overuse of drugs over the years with lack of understanding of side effects.

Antibiotics kill “friendly flora” in the intestinal system, which can cause Candida, Thrush and feed yeast conditions. Friendly bacteria plays a vital role in your immune system and needs to be replenished when depleted.

Poor diet, stress and lifestyle depletes nutrition and energy in the body.  Disease affects the amount of nutrition taken into our body.

We need 22 foundation trace minerals in our body for it to function properly and we can get most of them from food and water. If we are short on just one of the foundation minerals it will impair the function of the body reducing the ability to metabolise vitamins and minerals. (Liquid forms of foundation minerals are available in the form of Colloidal Minerals).

e.g.: - Magnesium activates more than 300 enzymes in the body and together with calcium affects nerve and muscle functions.  In modern food processing more than 80% of the natural magnesium in grains is lost by removal of the germ and outer layer.

Vitamin C is one of the synergistic vitamins that open the body’s gates to other vitamins and helps the body absorb minerals.

We need to top up vitamin C.daily as it is water-soluble and not retained by the body.

Vitamin C. is needed every day and is obtained through our diet.

Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant needed for tissue growth and repair, adrenal gland function, healthy gums, anti - stress hormones and enhances immunity.

Trace elements (minerals) are more important factors in human nutrition than vitamins.  The body can manufacture many vitamins, but it cannot produce necessary trace minerals or get rid of many possible excesses”            Researcher Dr. Henry Schroeder

What can cause a mineral imbalance?

Diet, Stress, Inherited patterns, medications and pollution can cause a mineral imbalance.

Improper diet through high intake of refined and processed foods, alcohol and fad diets can all lead to a chemical imbalance.  Even the nutrient content of a “Healthy” diet can be inadequate, depending upon the soil in which the food was grown, or the method in which it was prepared.

Stress – Physical or emotional stress can deplete the body of many nutrients, while also reducing the capability to absorb and utilize other nutrients.

Inherited patterns A predisposition towards mineral imbalances, deficiencies and excesses can be inherited from parents.

Medication Medications can deplete the body store of nutrients e.g.: Diuretics, antacids, aspirin and oral contraceptives.

PollutionWe are continually exposed to a variety of toxic metal sources

i.e.: - cigarette smoke (cadmium), hair dyes (lead), antiperspirants (aluminum), lead based cosmetics and dental amalgams etc.,

A Hair sample analysis from a laboratory can show deficiencies in vitamins and minerals.  High / Low Toxicity levels and tissue depletion report also gives full details of diet and nutrition suggestions for correcting the imbalances.

After Atkins

If you stick to a high protein diet you do lose weight without feeling hungry. That is why the Atkins diet has taken off with whole groups of the population from celebrities to housewives everywhere.

Research reveals that protein rich foods (such as red meat, chicken, oily and white fish, eggs and game) are more satiating – they make us feel full more quickly – than fatty foods and refined carbohydrates such as white bread, cakes and biscuits.

Because the body finds it quite hard work to digest protein rich foods eating lots of them slightly increases the metabolic rate so that your burn more calories.

But some high protein foods – such as burgers, bacon, sausages and cheese – are rich in saturated fat too, which raises cholesterol and increases the risk of heart disease.  It is also thought that consuming excess quantities of protein puts strain on the kidneys.

Some nutritionists say that we can reap the slimming benefits of protein without the negative side effects, by including some lean protein at each meal – but not unlimited quantities.

You could base breakfast around some baked beans or eggs

Lunch – fish such as tuna, mackerel or salmon: lean white meat, or pulses.

Dinner - could be grilled lean gammon steak, turkey breast (without skin) or tofu.

Atkins recommends that you reduce carbohydrates to just 20g a day – most people eat 300-400g per day.

The advantages of cutting out carbohydrate packed foods such as crisps, cakes and biscuits are two fold.

They are high in calories – so excluding them reduces your calorie intake.

They have high glycaemic index (GI) which means that they are digested rapidly and send blood sugar levels soaring: this causes big surges of the hormone insulin, which ultimately causes excess carbohydrate to be stored as fat

The disadvantage of cutting out all carbohydrates is that you lose the benefits of nutritionally rich, unrefined carbohydrates, such as wholegrain bread, brown pasta and fruit and vegetables that are packed with vitamins, minerals, fibre and super-nutrients.

These foods are digested more slowly and cause a gentle rise in blood sugar together with a smaller release of the fat -storing hormone insulin.  They also have medium to low GI levels.

Whatever their source, all fats are high in calories.

Nutritionists are of the opinion that fatty foods should be taken sparingly from foods rich in saturated fats - such as butter and cheese, together with moderate use of polyunsaturated fats found in sunflower oil and monounsaturated fats found in olive oil.

Parasites

A colon filled with un-eliminated fecal matter from years of poor eating habits provides the perfect breeding ground for parasites.

Research indicates that there are over 300 different species of parasites and worms that effect more than 2 billion people around the world causing a long list of afflictions

Adults as well as children are affected.  Unfortunately, symptoms caused by parasites can often be misdiagnosed.

Some of the symptoms, which may be a sign of parasitic infections in adults, are as follows: - Anemia,    Joint Aches & pains,   Anorexia,    Lethargy,   Arthritis,     Low Back Pain,    Auto Immune Disease,      Malabsorption,    Bloody stools,         Rectal bleeding,     Distention & bloating,     Rash & itching of the skin,       Irritable Bowel Syndrome,     Weight loss,      Food Allergy,                                Diarrhoea  And many more signs …………..

In children signs may include: - Bedwetting,  Itchy rectum, nose and ears, drooling or grinding of teeth whilst asleep,   dry lips during the day.

See Candida & Thrush page for more information

Natural Cleanse Chinese herbs can help by cleansing the system with special natural ingredients designed to eliminate parasites form the body

They contain herbs that destroy and expel parasites, shrink inflamed tissues, absorb toxins from the bowel and improve the digestion of nutrients.

De-toxing also helps to cleanse the body.

Why detox? Environmental pollutants, poor diet and sedentary lifestyle can result in a build up of toxic pollutants in the body that directly effects our health and over time, if left unchecked, can lead to serious health problems: -

Allergies                     Bad Breath             Constipation            Parasites

Depression                Fatigue                      Insomnia               Headaches

Sinus congestion             Obesity          Skin conditions

Many illnesses are directly related to a build up of toxins in the body

Stress Consultancy

Stress is responsible for many disorders and diseases.

Trials have shown that at least 75% of all disorders start from emotional and stressful conditions or events.

(Scientifically proven - “Molecules of emotion” by Candice Pert)

When we are anxious or under pressure our bodies secrete chemicals into the blood stream that puts us on red alert (fight or flight mode)

It is an automatic reaction when we are feeling out of control, stressed, angry or emotionally upset.

The adrenal kicks in – and creates an explosion of hormones – it is an automatic response from the body to help you to deal with the situation i.e.: - an emergency.

This response also closes down some systems of the body to move energy to other systems to help you cope with the emergency or situation at the time.

  • Shuts down digestive system and bladder
  • Breathing, Heart rate and Blood pressure are increased.
  • More blood is pumped to the muscles

This reaction is ok if it is for an emergency (to stand and fight or run away) but harmful if this reaction is ongoing due to pressure or worry. Once the chemicals have been released they will remain in the body for some time and it can take several hours for the systems to come back on line again.

Nervous Disorders, Insomnia, Anxiety and Depression

Nervous Disorders - Many nervous disorders have mental rather than physical causes and so conventional medicine may not always be very helpful.

Alternative Complimentary therapies can be a good way to help with nervous disorders as they also encourage people to relax.

Depletion in some minerals and vitamins can have an effect on body performance.

Anxiety and stress can be experienced within any part of the mind/body complex, depending upon our own innate physical and emotional constitution.   One common problem is the weakening of the immune defence system, resulting in fatigue and susceptibility to every passing infection and allergy.  Stress and anxiety can also trigger skin problems, or exacerbate an existing condition such as acne and eczema.  We know that it will raise blood pressure and is a contributing factor in the development of heart disease.

It can also play havoc with the endocrine and reproductive systems, manifesting perhaps as severe PMS, low fertility (in men and women) thyroid dysfunction, maturity onset, diabetes and a whole host of other complaints.

The idea that stress is all bad is a misunderstanding. Unlike sheep, humans need a high amount of stimulation to motivate us and keep us going.  It sharpens our senses and helps us adapt to our environment.  Indeed without the ‘spice of life’ we begin to feel downhearted.  Stress only becomes a problem when it develops into distress, especially if the feeling is prolonged.

Whether we are suffering from the strain of living in the fast track, or the burden of a monotonous existence, we feel we have no control over our life, and fear there is no way out, even though the spectrum of human emotion may seem infinitely broad (according to Dr. C. Norman Shealy – US Stress expert).  There are just four major feelings of distress and each stems from an attitude to FEAR – namely: anxiety, anger, guilt and depression.  All other negative feelings are actually synonyms of these four.

The secret of maintaining a sense of well being is to find just the right level of stimulation and relaxation to make life interesting and fulfilling, and of course this balance is different for each individual.

INSOMNIA

Most of us suffer from the occasional bad nights sleep, but for some people insomnia can become a debilitating condition, with one third of the population suffering at some stage of their life.  Insomnia is a condition in which the person cannot get to sleep or has difficulty in staying asleep. Insomnia is often caused by worry or stress.

Symptoms:

Difficulty in getting to sleep or difficulty in staying asleep

Poor quality of sleep – feeling of never slept

Leg twitching

Anxiety and Depression

A surprising large proportion of the adult population will be affected by anxiety or depression at some time in their lives.

These two conditions are often associated with each other.  Everyone is anxious at some time, but excessive feelings of worry and doom can lead to serious physical and psychological problems, and so should be treated.

Symptoms:

There are many physical signs linked to these conditions. Any combination of the following symptoms may be present.

Unable to relax

Headaches

Palpitations – a rapid pulse,

Tightness in the chest

High blood pressure

Sleeplessness

Loss of appetite

Nausea

Diarrhoea

Light Headedness

One of the warning signs of depression is a sudden loss of appetite.  Be sure to consult your medical doctor if you think that you may be suffering.

Constipation may also be the result of sluggish digestion or muscle tone and sometimes of stress or nervous tension.  It can also be a symptom of other conditions.

Stress manifests itself in a variety of ways:

Stress build up acts like an internal explosion causing some of our body’s systems to fail. We often repress feelings and bottle them up.  When we do we can create emotional blockages that over time will create trauma and disease.

Stress can lead to a weakening of our body’s defence system (immune system) and we become more vulnerable to illness and disease.

Each individual reacts to stress in a unique way.
Mental Body reactions: -

  • Inability to make decisions
  • Poor memory/ concentration
  • Panic
  • Nervousness
  •  As well as many other symptoms

Physical Body reactions: -

  • Palpitations
  • Headaches or Migraines
  • Shakiness
  • Exhaustion
  • Stomach problems
  • IBS
  • Lethargic
  • Allergies
  • Colds, Flu etc.,
  • Tension
  • Immune and endocrine systems

Manual Lymph Drainage

All massage is wonderfully relaxing, but a little – known kind called manual lymph drainage (MDL) is also good for easing swelling caused by cancer treatment, fluid retention during pregnancy or general puffiness.

MLD works by stimulating the effect of nature’s own internal cleanser, the lymphatic system – a network of channels carrying lymph fluid. This fluid clears the tissues of bacteria and waste. The collected waste is passed into the lymph nodes in the neck, groin and under the arms. MLD is a gentle almost feathery massage which prevents these nodes getting congested.

Helpful with the stimulation of the Lymphatic system, reduces High blood pressure and Oedema e.g.: pregnancy. Improvements to sinusitis and Hay fever

Lymph system consists of: - Lymph nodes linked by lymph vessels that carry the lymph fluid around the body. This system collects fluid and waste from the tissues and returns it to the blood after it has been purified in the thousands of numerous lymph nodes we have all over the body. Where circulation is failing we get Oedema (swelling) that can be due to various reasons i.e.: -Sports injuries and falls.

It is recognised as the specific treatment for Lymphodema and after mastectomy. Lymphoedema is a chronic swelling caused primarily by a failure of lymph drainage. Lymphoedema is most commonly seen in developed countries following treatment for cancer. Where nodes are removed from the body, especially breast cancer.

Benefits of treatment: -

MLD is a specific massage technique designed to increase the normal lymphokinetic activity and encourage fluid to drain from an oedematous region to a non –oedematous area of the body. It aims to improve the function of the lymphatics. MLD allows the channels to drain in new directions thus aiding drainage from congested or obstructed areas.

MLD affects the automatic nervous system –helping to improve damaged nerve areas.  Also helpful with decreasing the pain of MS and sub-acute arthritis sufferers

  • Stimulation of the Lymphatic system
  • Reduction of High blood pressure
  • Reduces Oedema e.g.: pregnancy
  • Improvement of sinusitis and Hay fever

Like a face-lift without surgery, It also helps with the reduction of Acne, together with post. Surgical / Scar tissue – improves lymph flow

Treatment: - Because lymph fluid only flows in one direction, proximal areas are treated before distal areas.  The technique is a gentle pumping action.  Pressure is very light because lymph flow is just under the skin. MLD should not cause pain.

What is the Lymphatic system?

The lymph system is a drainage system that works in parallel with the venous system.  The excess tissue fluid that the veins cannot carry gets transported in the lymphatic vessels.

Unlike the vascular system (a continuous circular track) there is no pump pushing the lymph fluid around the circuit.  Lymph only moves in one direction. Muscular contraction forces fluid along Lymph vessels together with compression from pulsing arteries, movement of organs and lymphatic drainage.

Lymph system consists of: - Lymph nodes linked by lymph vessels that carry the lymph fluid around the body.  This system collects fluid and waste from the tissues and returns it to the blood after it has been purified in the thousands of numerous lymph nodes we have all over the body, that help to protect and maintain the internal fluid environment.

This is done by filtering – removing foreign particles and fragments of broken down cells, bacteria and virus particles – and by producing and circulating Lymphocytes (cells of the immune system) that defend the body against disease and invasion by foreign substances.

The lymph system network also transports fats, proteins and other substances to the blood system and restores about 60% of the fluid that filters out of the blood capillaries during normal metabolism

Lymph nodes have two essential functions

  • Filter the lymph and remove foreign particles and fragments of broken down cells, bacteria and virus particles.
  • To produce and circulate lymphocytes

Like a blocked sink the nodes can become blocked (i.e.: - arm pit -axilla) and when only a little of the fluid can get through this area it causes back flow and discomfort (i.e.: -shoulder).

Nodes can become blocked for various reasons (virus /glandular fever) and it is only after some time we start to feel the impact of the impaired condition and slowing down of lymph flow as it effects other parts of the body. Fatigue and lethargy are some of the symptoms because the toxins and poisons in the body are not being filtered out.

Where circulation is failing we get Oedema (swelling), which can be due to various reasons: -

  • Composition of the blood is abnormal  - too much salt/water (nephritis)
  • Depletion of protein - nephritic syndrome
  • General circulatory problem – right sided or congestive cardiac failure or pelvic blockage
  • Associated with late pregnancy and high blood pressure
  • Myxoedema is a condition that results from hypothyroidism

Manual Lymph Drainage  (MLD) is an advanced therapy technique developed in Europe in the 1930’s by Danish Dr Emil and Estrid Vodder. It was first used as a beauty treatment, but soon developed into a clinical technique as the benefits were recognised.

A unique method, with in the broad framework of classic massage, where a very light pumping action moves the skin to bring about an increased lymph flow.

Primarily, MLD is used to promote the optimal function of the initial lymph vessels, nodes and ducts of the lymphatic system.

It facilitates removal of metabolic waste, excess water, large protein molecules and foreign substances from tissue via the initial lymph vessels and venous capillaries.

However, new research done in Australia by Alan Hudson has broadened the technique further using an even lighter touch that is being recognised in UK and results have been very successful.

It was found that if too much pressure was being used it could flood the tissue instead of releasing lymph fluid. Joy has trained in the Alan Hudson method and uses it with much success.

It is the treatment of choice where there is stasis of lymph associated with high protein oedemas.   In the case of chronic lymphoedemas, it is an essential part of a decongestive physical therapy routine involving compression exercise and skin care.

The positive effects are well known in Europe, Australia and USA.  In Europe particularly the technique is practiced widely in hospitals and clinics and is recognised by relevant national health insurance plans.

LYMPHOEDEMA

Lymphoedema is a chronic swelling caused primarily by a failure of lymph drainage.  This can be congenitally determined with no obvious cause – (PRIMARY LYMPHOEDEMA) or may develop after surgery or radiotherapy treatment (SECONDARY LYMYPHOEDEMA).

Limbs are the most commonly affected part of the body, although the adjacent part of the trunk may be involved. It could occur immediately after treatment or many years later.

Lymphoedema is most commonly seen in developed countries following treatment for cancer, where nodes are removed - especially breast cancer. Literature has suggested that the prevalence rate for women treated for breast cancer is in the region of 25-28%

Strain is put on the Lymph vessels when nodes and glands are removed.

Swelling may affect all or part of a limb and may also extend to the trunk

It can be soft and pitting or hard and non-pitting due too interstitial fibrosis.

Unlike other odemas, it does not significantly reduce overnight.   Patients may experience a number of other effects, particularly skin changes i.e.: -

  • Enhanced skin creases
  • Hyperkeratosis – thickening of the outer layer of the skin
  • Papillomastosis – non-malignant tumour resembling a wart
  • Lymphangioma – collection of abnormal lymph vessels

Other effects include acute inflammatory episodes (commonly referred to as cellulites) and with Lymphoedema on the leg can contract fungal infection –

usually between the toes.

Treatment of Lymphoedema

In this country the management of lymphodema is based upon work

done in mainland Europe - Foldi clinic Hineterzarten Germany.

This approach is based around twin concepts of “Maintenance

therapy “ and “Intensive therapy”. This includes:

  • Skin care
  • External support – elastic hosiery
  • Exercise programme
  • Self massage

Lymphoedema Support Network -  www.lymphoedema.org/lsn

Treatment principles of MLD

First treatment includes a consultation

  • Because lymph only flows in one direction proximal areas are treated before distal areas.
  • Pressure is light because lymph flow is just under the skin.Technique is rhythmical – same pressure, same speed and same number of times.  It is not done at a fast pace.
  • Pumping action technique has a pressure phase and relaxation phase.
  • MLD should not cause pain

Benefits of treatment: -

  • A deep relaxation treatment together with stimulation of the Lymphatic system.

Reduces Oedema e.g.:

Sports injuries and pregnancy, also minimises scarring and stretch marks

  • Increase in bowel and/or bladder movements
  • Post surgical/ Scar tissue – improves lymph flow

MLD affects the automatic nervous system – giving improvements to damaged nerve areas. MLD has a calming effect as the automatic nervous system changes from a sympathetic to a parasympathetic state through the triggering of attraction reflexes.

  • Improvement of Hay fever and sinusitis
  • Reduction of High blood pressure
  • Decrease in pain of MS and sub-acute arthritis sufferers

Recognised as the specific treatment following Lymphodema and mastectomy

MLD also:

  • Speeds up healing
  • Relieves headache and pain
  • It is a fantastic treatment for Hay fever and helps un-block sinus, together with improvements for sinusitis.

A spectacular skin treatment - It helps tighten up the saggy parts and reduce  puffiness.  It is like having a face-lift without surgery.

  • Reduction of acne due to detox, although initially it may become worse, as toxins are released.
  • Reduction of High blood pressure.
  • Stimulation of the immune system

Clears colds - Improvement of breathing in colds, flu, bronchitis and asthma (not acute state)

It is suitable for almost everyone regardless of age. Except for TB,

Heart conditions, Cancer - while having treatment i.e.: - radio therapy etc.,

Before Treatment of Manual Lymph Drainage-

  • Inform your therapist if you are on any medication
  • Avoid alcohol
  • Avoid eating a heavy meal before a MLD treatment

First treatment includes a consultation and will take approx

1- 3/4 hours including medical history.

Normal sessions thereafter take approx one hour

Treatment is given on a treatment bed with the client wearing underclothes and covered with towels. As we work down the body a part of the towel is opened up and the area exposed is worked on.

At the first session a full treatment is advised to evaluate the body

Thereafter half body treatments may be suggested

Your MLD Therapist will decide which advanced technique will best suit your needs for a quick recovery and put a package together with the option of recommendations for nutrition, diet, hair analysis and emotional / stress relief

After Treatment: -

  • Your treatment will have started the process of elimination of poisons and toxins.
  • Drink plenty of still water over the next 24 hours.
  • Filtered or bottled non fizzy water 6-8 glasses minimum
  • If water is not taken the toxins released may cause a headache
  • Some clients feel sleepy after treatment.  Allow some extra time for yourself especially during the first few sessions. Rest and look after yourself for a short time afterwards.

How Many Treatments

Most forms of disease will have been building up over a period of time.  It is therefore unrealistic to expect an instantaneous improvement

Every client is different, so it is not possible to predict the exact number of sessions required.

Serious diseases usually take longer to treat than minor ones.

Chronic disorders that have been present for a long time again usually take longer than those that have been present a short time.

Older people sometimes take longer than younger people

For all disorders a course of treatment (6-8 treatments) is recommended even if the symptoms appear to go after the first treatment.

A course of treatment will help to balance the body’s systems that, in turn, will help to prevent a recurrence of the disorder.

Usually some improvement should occur after about three to four sessions, depending upon condition of the lymph

There are few people who do not benefit in some way from MLD. Even if the disorder is not completely cured, the clients often feel more relaxed or better in themselves.

REACTION FOLLOWING TREATMENT

Once the treatment has finished the client should feel relaxed and perhaps warmer, because of the blood circulation stimulation

Sometimes however, the client may feel cold – this is because of the toxins leaving the body.

People are often surprised, during and after the treatment, that stimulating the lymph can have such a dramatic effect across the body.

They often feel sleepy, calmer and relaxed.  Leaving them with a heightened feeling of well being

Common reactions after treatment: -

  • Perhaps the most common is that the client has a good nights sleep
  • The rate of urination may increase.  The colour and smell may also change.
  • Some find that they have a good bowel movement.
  • Suppressed past conditions could flare up

** Tiredness and lethargy can affect some, as the toxins/poisons have been disturbed  - this should clear within 24 –48 hours

**Some people experience a headache after treatment – this is because the treatment has started the movement of toxins in the body

**In this case you need to drink plenty of water to help clear the toxins from the body - 6-8 glasses in the next 24 hours

These are all positive reactions and show that the body is trying to heal itself.

Regular treatments have proven to produce a Homeostasis in the body. Most clients like to continue with a monthly or six weekly sessions just to keep the lymph flowing and nodes clear. Their level of relaxation improves together with strengthened immune systems and systems rebalanced.

Magnified Healing

Healing methods are changing and expanding.

Magnified Healing is a revived, ancient healing that was used by Yogis and spiritual masters.  It is a very special advanced healing brought to us by Lady Master Kwan Yin, for these special times of the millennium.

Most people have heard of Reiki Healing. Magnified Healing is different from Reiki. Reiki is a channelled (4th dimensional healing energy).

Magnified Healing is a 5th dimensional healing energy, an energy that is felt by the Healer and client (we become the healing).

Its focus is on the heart. Working with feminine energy, Magnified Healing heals at all levels, physically, mentally and spiritually. It is a very powerful healing practice that can help to heal all aspects of the body - Physical,  Emotional,   Mental, Etheric,    Spiritual,     Karma,    Balances Chakra energy centres.

Yogis and spiritual masters used this technique to assist them when they spent their lives in retreat, attaining this level of knowledge. We have been given this special ancient healing modality under special divine dispensation to help humanity.

Magnified Healing is different from Reiki.

Reiki is a channelled vibrational energy healing and is directed into the body of the practitioner.  Magnified Healing is a 5th dimensional healing energy – an energy that is felt by the Healer and client. Its focus is on the heart.

Working with feminine energy Magnified Healing heals at all levels, physically, mentally and spiritually.

When a treatment is given it is short compared to other modalities, approx 20-30 minutes.

Balances Chakras: With Magnified Healing we work with the Chakras clearing, cleansing, balancing, and aligning. When Chakras are out of balance it can affect organs in the physical body. By balancing and aligning Chakras this allows the energies (Chi) to flow and helps the body to heal itself quicker. Health and vitality is maintained when energies flow.

With Magnified Healing we work with the Chakras clearing, cleansing, balancing, and aligning. By aligning and balancing Chakras we can eliminate distortions within them and improve our health. Energies are also improved.

Healing of Karma, the release of Karma is very important as we all carry emotional baggage around with us every day.   We can even bring Karma from previous lives to deal with during this lifetime. Magnified Healing allows the release of Karma. Magnified Healing is effective in releasing this emotional and/or traumatic baggage together with its negative distortions. They are transmuted and this clears the pathways for you to move on in your life.

Magnified Healing is different from Reiki.

What happens when you receive a treatment?

When you receive a Magnified Healing treatment it is a powerful yet gentle Healing modality. It releases emotional baggage (Karma) and leaves you feeling calm, peaceful, as if a weight has been lifted off your shoulders.

When Chakras are out of balance this can affect organs in the physical body. By balancing and aligning Chakras this allows the energies (Chi) to flow and helps the body to heal itself quicker. Health and vitality is maintained when energies flow.

What can Magnified Healing be used for?

Magnified Healing can be used for all sorts of Physical disorders as well as emotional and mental problems. It also helps with:    Palliative care,              Stress and Anxiety, Bereavement, Pain and Headaches, Balancing of the Higher Bodies (Auras), Chakras balanced and aligned, DNA Activation, Releases and clears Karma (Emotional baggage we carry around with us and pick up daily)

A brief chat will take place after the treatment to discuss if further treatments would be necessary.

Sometimes it is better to have a course of treatments depending upon the disorder and why the appointment has been made.

Emotional Release

Healing your life and setting yourself FREE

We are living in an age where pressure, stress and anxiety are part of daily life.  This affects all ages, children and adults. Pressure from our peers, family and work commitments all affect our emotions that in turn affect our body physically and mentally.

Emotions affect how our body performs. Stress and emotions are responsible for many disorders and diseases.

Trials have shown that at least 75% of all disorders start from emotional and stressful conditions or events.

A powerful therapy creating profound and amazing results

Disorders helped:

  • Addiction
  • Anger / Rage
  • Self esteem
  • Grief
  • Hurt and Abuse
  • Fear and abandonment
  • Miscarriage/ post natal depression
  • Abortion
  • Parental relations
  • Longstanding problems
  • Relationships
  • Stuck in your life or Something holding you back
  • OCD  & Comfort eating
  • Depression/Anxiety
  • Energy blockages - loss or lack of energy
  • Pain
  • Childhood abuse/fear problems
  • Post traumatic stress
  • Emotional trauma

We secrete chemicals in the body. Chemicals coat the cells and that determines how our body is going to react. Our cells also hang onto the memory that created this action. i.e.: abandonment, grief, fear, trauma, devastation, despair, hurt, depression, anxiety, feeling unloved or unhappy etc., that creates a reaction that can come out as disorders /addictions: - eating, smoking, drinking, drugs, compulsive disorders etc.

For more information pelase scroll down....

It has been scientifically proved by Candice Pertby in her book “Molecules of emotion”

Candice was part of the aids programme and found through her research that cells were coated with peptides/chemicals that created a reaction/pattern of emotion that created disorders within the body.

Sometimes when we are anxious, stressed, angry, emotionally upset or under any pressure that puts the body on red alert (fight or flight mode) the Adrenal kicks in - an explosion of hormones.

It is an automatic response from the body to help you to deal with the situation i.e.: -emergency.

This response closes down some of the systems of the body to move energy to other systems

  • Shuts down digestive system and bladder
  • Breathing, Heart rate and Blood pressure are increased.
  • More blood pumped to the muscles

This reaction is ok if it is for an emergency (to stand and fight or run away) but harmful if this reaction is ongoing due to pressure or worry. It is like using a battery over and over again without recharging it.  If we don’t use this energy, the chemicals that have been released will remain in the body for some time and it can take several hours for the systems to come back on line again.

Life Events create emotional trauma when we feel deep hurt or despair and over time this is when disease in the body can be created.

We often repress and bottle up feelings.  It is when we bottle up and repress feelings that deep trauma in our body is created.

Trials have shown that this is when disease such as cancer can occur. Your Emotions are powerful. (See 'Events' for workshop on 'Power of emotions')

Emotional Release - Emotional & cellular healing guides you to the root cause of the problem that is causing the disorder or trauma and gives you the tools to help yourself.

Emotional Release is at the cutting edge of energy medicine and healing that can enable you to recover and move beyond illness, disease and performance limitations or restrictions.  It is healing on all levels.

Somoto Emotional Release (SER) - Scientifically and Clinically trialled by Dr. John Upledger who devised this therapy (-an offshoot of Cranio Sacral Therapy) on Vietnam war veterans who they found needed more than counselling because of their post traumatic stress and trauma

The treatment proved to be very successful especially with emotional trauma, post - traumatic stress etc.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

The symptoms of PTSD arise after an exceptionally threatening event that is outside the normal range of experience.

These symptoms are manifestations of stress-induced changes in brain structure and function that result in altered neuro -chemical systems within specific brain regions, leading to chronic modification in brain circuits involved in stress response.

Sudden unexpected traumatic stresses or conversely prolonged exposure to inhumane treatment or significant abuse have a higher predictive value for the development of PTSD.

The psychological/physical/constitutional strengths and weaknesses of the individual are also relevant, as is the presence of concomitant bodily abuse or injury.

There are stages of reaction when PTSD is experienced: -

The stressor: the person may have experienced, witnessed or been confronted with an event or events that involved actual or threatened death or serious injury to self or others – i.e.: car accident

The reaction: the person’s response may have involved fear, helplessness or horror (or disorganised, agitated behaviour in children).

Re-experiencing the trauma: the traumatic event is persistently re-experienced through recurrent or intrusive recollections or distressing dreams (e.g.: nightmares) or a sense of reliving the experience (e.g.: flashbacks) or distress or physiological reactivity on exposure to associated cues.

Avoidance:  there is persistent avoidance of stimuli associated with the trauma but numbing of general responsiveness to other stimuli.

Hyper-arousal: there is a persistent symptom of increased arousal e.g.: heightened anxiety, startle responses, hyper-vigilance, sleep disturbance, difficulties with memory or concentration.

Distress: there is clinically significant impairment in important areas of functioning: e.g.: social or occupational.

Duration: these disturbances may have been present for more than one month.  The condition is sub- divided into “acute” - less than 3 months duration, “chronic” - more than 3 months, or “delayed” -onset of symptoms is more than 6 months after traumatic stress.

Complex PTSD: includes impact of experiences on a person’s view of themselves and the world following severe trauma.

It affects those who have had a history of subjection to totalitarian control over a prolonged period.

As well as hostages, survivors of cults and so on there is the inclusion of sexual and domestic life, including domestic battering, childhood physical or sexual abuse, and organised sexual exploitation.

Symptoms are classified according to alterations in:

Mood  - including suicidal preoccupation

Consciousness – depersonalisation or de-realisation

Self- perception – shame, guild, sense of stigma or helplessness

Perception of perpetrator – preoccupation with revenge

Relationships with others – disruption in intimate relationships or withdrawal

Systems of meaning – sense of despair or loss of faith.

Under normal stress reactions of fight or flight, the Adrenal response produces multiple and immediate effects on central nervous system Hormones are released to allow the body to function on red alert and fight or run away producing an automatic response that we don’t even have to think about.

In chronic PTSD there is a super suppression (blunting) of the neuro endocrine response to acute stress but increased sympathetic nervous system ‘tone’.  Re-exposure to trauma or related cues heightens this ‘alarm state’.  The features are not only accompanied by anxiety but also by anger and depression.  It is as though the automatic nervous system (ANS) is a pendulum and is swinging widely from its normal state to that of super suppression or (blunting) as a compensatory mechanism by the body to avoid ‘burnout’.

The association between PTSD and physical disorders such as: chronic pain, hypertension, peptic ulcer disease and bronchial asthma, is easily understandable.

When we have traumatic events in our lives, even in the womb, the memory stays in the body’s cells and creates reactions, conditioning, and creates patterns within us.

We can even have these traumas with us from previous Karma and take

on parent’s issues of guilt, shame etc.,

The treatment of PTSD requires specialist expertise.

PTSD was trialled by Dr. John Upledger with Vietnam veterans, who had received counselling but found that it was not enough, as the trauma was not completely removed.

Somoto Emotional Release (SER) was found to be very successful and was further developed with their help.

Somoto Emotional Release (SER) helps to remove these memories, emotional reactions, patterns and disorders in a gentle and quick manner.

Treatment takes approx 1 ˝ to 2 hours

Helping in a new way clearing mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually at the same time.

It doesn’t matter how long ago it happened. It could be 30 years ago and it will still help to clear the memories from the cells.

Some people say: “I have dealt with it”. This can seem true to a degree with the mind, but not with the physical.  When we consequently do their SER treatment they often agree that they had not ‘dealt with it’ after all.  The depths we bury and can hold this information amazes me.  We need to clear the body of the memories as well as the mind to help us move on in a clear manner.

When I have done this treatment with others, their physical disorders have improved and for some, symptoms have gone completely.  After just one session they have looked and sounded different, and appeared brighter.

Many say to me: - ‘I feel as though a weight has been taken off my shoulders’

‘ I feel lighter’   ‘ I feel so different’

It is a hands-on technique working physically and mentally, that can release the blockages and the memory patterns that you discover are the underlying cause of illness and performance limitations.  This in turn can increase/enhance the flow of energy in the body.

Hair Analysis Testing

Hair tissue mineral Analysis – reports available

Hair tissue and mineral analysis (HTMA) is an analytical test that measures the mineral content of the hair (your DNA) and gives a full report on vitamin, mineral deficiencies with levels of toxins and poisons in the body together with dietary suggestions. Poor diet will deplete us in nutrients and vitamins – eating food that is not right for us can make us feel physically ill, giving a feeling of low energy and under par.

Many symptoms are associated with mineral and vitamin deficiencies and/ or excesses such as:

  • Allergies
  • Headaches
  • Depression
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Fatigue/Weakness

 Hair tissue mineral Analysis

Hair tissue mineral analysis (HTMA) is an analytical test that measures the mineral content of the hair (your DNA).  Testing is performed using highly sophisticated detection equipment and methods to achieve the most accurate results that can detect and show depletions in nutrients, together with levels of toxins and poisons.

HTMA report will provide you with the most complete and comprehensive computer evaluation with levels and ratios as tested in the hair, including a list of foods to eat or to avoid in accordance with food allergy indicators and individualized requirements, together with a specific list of nutrients that may assist in balancing body chemistry and eliminating toxins.

Poor diet will deplete us in nutrients and vitamins. Eating food that is not right for us can make us feel physically ill, giving a feeling of low energy and under par.  Some major causes of death in this country are as a result of poor dietary habits and lifestyle.  Many illnesses can be prevented with an adequate intake of dietary nutrition, vitamin and mineral supplements, water and regular exercise.

Trace minerals are essential in countless metabolic functions in all phases of the life process. e.g.: -

Zinc is involved in the production, storage and secretion of insulin and is necessary for growth hormones.

Potassium is critical for normal nutrient transport into the cell. A deficiency can result in muscular weakness, depression and lethargy.

Calcium loss from the body can become so advanced that severe osteoporosis can develop with out any appreciable changes noted in the calcium levels in the blood .

Did you know?

Excessive mineral intake can negate the beneficial effects of vitamins for example:

Taking too much Zinc can reduce the beneficial effect of vitamin D

Taking too much Calcium can reduce the beneficial effect of vitamin A

Taking too much Vitamin C can reduce the beneficial effect of copper

Taking too much Vitamin D can cause a deficiency of magnesium

Taking too much iron can contribute to such symptoms as arthritis, high blood pressure and tension headaches with dizziness

Disorders that can benefit from correction of Diet & Nutrition

Many common symptoms are associated with mineral and vitamin deficiencies and/ or excesses such as:  Arthritis,         Allergies,         Depression,      Headaches,

High Blood Pressure,   Hyperglycaemia,        Hypoglycaemia,     IBS,

Constipation,       Stress & Anxiety,       PMT,       Menopause,

Gall Bladder  & Thyroid problems,      Diabetes,      Candida

By improving your diet you can improve your health and create well-being for life….

Research indicates that there are over 300 different species of parasites.

A colon filled with un-eliminated fecal matter from years of poor eating habits provides the perfect breeding ground. Hookworms, whipworms, filarial worms and flat worms affect more than 2 billion people around the world causing a long list of afflictions. Adults as well as children are affected. Unfortunately, symptoms caused by parasites can often be misdiagnosed.

Chakras are energy channels that flow through the body and meet at specific centres known as “the Chakras” that is fundamental to Eastern medicine and philosophy

In a healthy body where the Chakras are in balance, the energy will flow freely right around the system, through the chakra’s and along meridians, or energy channels.

However physical problems, emotional traumas and stresses of everyday life can all undermine the body’s delicate balance and the chakra’s may become blocked, depleted or overloaded When this happens physical or psychological ill health will follow.

Chakra balancing helps to realign energies, it will also help to: Rebalance your central energy centres and Aura

Giving you more energy Calming and relaxing also helps to release emotional baggage Clearing blockages and helping to prevent physical dis-ease.

When energy (Chi) flows through the body unhindered, health and vitality are maintained. A Non-invasive holistic treatment.

Treatments are to appointment only.   Workshop available see events

Chakras are energy channels that flow through the body and meet at specific centres known as “the Chakras” that is fundamental to Eastern medicine and philosophy.

They are located in a vertical column running through the body from the base of the spine up to the top of the head.

“Wheels of Power” - they resemble circular disks that spin or pulsate as energy flows through them.  The name Chakra is Sanskrit and means “wheel”

There are seven major chakra’s, each one corresponding to specific physical, mental and spiritual functions and regulating the energy required to keep the mind, body, and spirit holistically tuned.

Clearing blockages and helping to prevent physical dis-ease

When we are ill the condition of our Chakras enables us to trace the root of our malaise.  Because each Chakra is associated with a particular part of the anatomy, such as a gland or an organ in the body, and imbalances in the energy flow through the Chakras will create a domino effect and manifest themselves as problems in their related areas.

Aches and pains in a particular part of the body suggest that its corresponding Chakra is in a state of imbalance.  Conversely if we can pinpoint which Chakra is malfunctioning we can deduce from that all the anatomical areas that are likely to be affected, either at present or in the future, unless matters are corrected.

In addition, all our emotions creative impulses, spiritual feelings and intuitive understanding correspond to the seven energy centres and will, therefore, be similarly affected by the condition of the Chakras

By balancing and correcting the Chakra’s this helps with rebalancing the body energies and helps the body to become healthier.                Creating hormonal stimulus, physiological and psychological response. Thus increasing energy in mind body and spirit now and elevating future problems.

The medical profession is now realising the benefits of Chakra balancing in Oncology.

The Aura

All things living emit a certain amount of electricity that surrounds the body in an electromagnetic field known as the aura.

The field forms itself into a ring of radiant light around the outside of the physical body and though invisible to most eyes, it is made up of many colours.

Chakras are connected to the Aura and the Aura influences the Chakras.

Each colour symbolizes a specific organ a psychological characteristic or a physical condition and so describes the moods, feelings, disposition or state of health of the individual.

A Non-invasive holistic treatment no need to take anything off except shoes.

Treatments are by appointment - available to rebalance and treat Chakra’s & Aura’s

One-day workshop about Chakras & Aura’s is available: Learn about Energies, Vibrations and how they affect the body.

Arrangements can also be made to teach in your area

Reflexology - Used to restore the body’s natural equilibrium

Reflexology has gained recognition as a Natural Therapy as treatment can be used for the correction and prevention of ill health.

A complimentary health treatment that is non invasive, (The client does not need to undress, only remove socks and shoes) it is a safe, natural therapy and has a way of relaxing, balancing and harmonizing the body. Reflexology is very effective while being pleasurable and relaxing, that is increasing in popularity.

Reflexology functions in two ways: -

  • As a diagnostic tool, and as a method of treatment

Reflexology uses a Holistic approach i.e.: - treats the whole person not just the symptoms.  It stimulates the body’s natural healing powers and many have found it an effective way to recoup lost energy, a major role in attaining and maintaining health.

Reflexology is a specific pressure technique. By using finger and thumb pressure on precise reflex points on both feet, it is able to alleviate tension and promote relaxation.

Feet are a map of the whole body – Big toes are the head and the body is mapped out with major organs etc., on the feet, as they would be on the body.

The foot and hand contains reflex areas that correspond to a part of the body, so every part of the body can be reached.

Reflexology is over 5000 years old

The earliest evidence of Reflexology was found as drawings in the tomb of a physician named Ankm’ahor at Saqqara in Egypt dating from around 2500BC

The drawings show practitioners massaging their patient’s hands and feet

Recent evidence has shown that Native American folk medicine also used a form of foot massage as a healing aid.

Reflexology acts as a complement to all forms of standard medical treatment in a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.

There is as yet no unified theory as to how Reflexology works.  However, its effects are likely to involve some or all of the following processes:

  • Deep muscle relaxation and relief of tension and stress
  • An improvement to cardiovascular and lymphatic circulation
  • Stimulation and inhibition of the transmission of nerve impulses to the brain particularly those involving the autonomic nervous system
  • The reduction of pain through gate control and stimulation of the endorphins
  • Stimulation of the process of proprioception and adaptive changes in other systems
  • Stimulation of key points on the acupuncture meridians
  • Effects on the body’s electromagnetic field
  • The benefits of an hour’s rest, stillness and quiet
  • The psychological benefits of an hour’s personal attention and care

The therapy is particularly useful for:

  • Long-term chronic cases
  • Clients who “don’t like taking pills”
  • Cases involving stress or tension
  • Clients who need more support than can be given within the constraints of normal consultation times.
  • Clients who produce symptoms for which there appears to be no underlying pathology.

Who can Benefit?

Experience has shown Reflexology to be particularly helpful in the following areas:

  • Conditions involving poor cardiovascular or lymphatic circulation
  • Stress related conditions
  • Musculo-skeletal pain (backache, stiff neck, frozen shoulder)
  • Hypertension
  • Asthma and other respiratory problems
  • Headaches and migraine
  • Sinus problems
  • Bowel disorders (constipation and IBS)
  • Menstrual irregularities, PMT, menopausal symptoms
  • Post - operative recovery and Care of the terminally ill
  • Help those who suffer from Insomnia
